Cherished Hearts Cross Stitch Kit

In looking for some heart theme projects, I came across this cross stitch kit in the Daydreams (TM) line. It's a small project that looks like it would stitch up quickly and would be a pretty decoration for your home decor. It could also be a great gift for a friend (given either as the kit to crafty friends or family members who would enjoy doing the stitching for themselves or complete the kit yourself to give someone the finished decoration).

A little bit about the Daydreams (TM) line: It includes needlecrafts that also use other art finishings in the project, such as sponge painting or wire art. The designs of these completed projects are sophisticated and they are fun to create.
Supplies are included to complete each kit's project. Read more

Fancy Egg - Diamond Geometric - Free Chart for Cross Stitch and Needlecrafts

I started by charting a basic outline of an egg shape then added to it from my own imagination to create a design within the egg.

I really enjoyed making this one up, so I'm thinking about creating a series of egg designs, if there seems to be an interest in it.

Although we often think of decorated eggs at Easter, these can be for display during any time of year.

If you make something using my Diamond Geometric Egg design (in cross stitch or in any other craft medium), I'd love to hear about it. There's a handy comments section below.

If you post a photo somewhere on the Internet showing what you made using my design, it would be great if you would give the link to your photo page when you write your comment here. Please consider placing a link to my free chart on your page where you show the photo of the item that you made using my chart, so others can know where to find the chart too. Thanks! I appreciate it. ~ Sandi

If you think you would like this design in a different color scheme, you could adapt the chart symbols to represent shades of a different color than shown on the chart. Here I've shown two possible alternate color schemes that could be used, one in shades of purple and pink and one in shades of blue, where you would substitute colors that you have on hand.

Cross Stitched Example of Heart With Vines Design

As finishing touches for this cross stitch, which I worked on aida cloth, I went around each grape cluster with the darker purple color, using straight outline stitches (also called back stitches). This makes the clusters of grapes stand out a little more. I also defined the outside edge with straight outline stitches by going all the way around the heart on the outer edge with the darker green color. A little outlining can really make a difference in the overall finished look of a cross-stitched piece.

I have made my copyrighted chart for my Vineyard Heart design available to be printed out for free for your personal, non-commercial use. The chart can be printed from this page: Free Vineyard Heart Chart. The url for the chart page is http://charts-by-sandi.blogspot.com/2008/12/vineyard-heart-free-cross-stitch-chart.html
