Doesn't this rooster look like he might be proud of his colors? The example on the left above shows the colors as given on the chart
but you might have fun adding additional colors, as shown in the example on the right.
The following chart shows a color key for three different embroidery floss brands for cross-stitch. These colors are only a suggestion and you could easily substitute other shades of the colors or alternate colors of your choice.
On the chart, I have indicated in color any areas that are a
three-quarter stitch, with the symbol shown in color for that three-quarter stitch. If desired, you could define the edges of the rooster shape with an outline, using the
back stitch.
